Cooper offers a comprehensive array of diagnostic and treatment services that include prevention and wellness, primary and specialty physician services, hospital care, and ambulatory diagnostic and treatment services. The hospital serves as southern New Jersey’s major tertiary-care referral hospital for specialized services. Signature programs include: the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute, the Cooper Cancer Institute, the Cooper Heart Institute, and the Cooper Neurological Institute. Cooper faculty members translate discoveries in basic science and clinical research into cutting-edge treatments in fields such as cancer, cardiology, critical care, diabetes, and gene therapy. Cooper currently conducts hundreds of National Institutes of Health (NIH) and industry-sponsored clinical trials each year. With numerous NIH and federal grants and aggregate research funding, Cooper is a research leader among regional medical campuses in the country. Cooper’s affiliation with the Coriell Institute for Medical Research provides an excellent opportunity for our faculty to participate in novel genomic and stem cell research. Recently, The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) announced that Cooper University Hospital will be the fourth affiliate hospital within its network to receive the prestigious Major Clinical Research Affiliate (MCRA) designation.

In 2009, Rowan University and Cooper University Hospital partnered to establish a new, four-year allopathic medical school in Camden, NJ, which will be known as Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. The new medical school will be the first, four-year allopathic medical school in southern New Jersey. Cooper has been providing clinical training to third and fourth year medical students from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School since 1980.
