Instruction of Ceftiofur Sodium for Injection
Prescription drug for veterinary use
| Main Ingredient | Ceftiofur Sodium |
| Character | White to Light Yellow Powder or Sparse Block |
[Pharmacological Action]
(1) Pharmacodynamics: Ceftiofur is a β-lactam antibacterial with broad-spectrum action effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including β-lactamase producing strains). It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to death. Sensitive bacteria include Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Salmonella, E. coli, and Streptococcus.
(2) Pharmacokinetics: Rapidly absorbed via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. It spreads widely but does not cross the blood-brain barrier. The active metabolite (deoxidizing furoyl cefriofur) is formed in vivo and excreted via urine and faeces.
