Pharmacodynamics: Florfenicol belongs to the amphenicol class of broad-spectrum antibiotics and acts as a bacteriostatic agent. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome, exerting its effects and demonstrating strong antibacterial activity against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics: Florfenicol is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching therapeutic concentrations in the blood approximately one hour later. The bioavailability is above 80%. It is primarily excreted in urine in its unchanged form.
