Pharmacodynamics: Florfenicol belongs to the amphenicol class of broad-spectrum antibiotics and acts as a bacteriostatic agent. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome, exerting its effects and demonstrating strong antibacterial activity against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics: Florfenicol is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching therapeutic concentrations in the blood approximately one hour later. The bioavailability is above 80%. Florfenicol is widely distributed in the animal body and can penetrate the blood-brain barrier.
Commonly used for treating respiratory infections, pasteurellosis, and swine respiratory disease complex (SRDC) in pigs, as well as mastitis and foot rot in cows and sheep.
Effectively treats respiratory infections caused by Pasteurella multocida or Mycoplasma gallisepticum, colibacillosis, and chronic respiratory disease in chickens, ducks, and geese.
Commonly employed for bacterial gill infections in fish, Necrotizing Hepatopancreatitis (NHP) in shrimp, and general bacterial infections in crabs and sea cucumbers.
